Young Adults Serve In Tanzania
At the beginning of March, Worship Center sent a team of 19 young adults to Arusha, Tanzania, to serve, evangelize, and love others.
The team, consisting of young adults from Worship Center, Encounter Church, and YWAM Tyler, Texas, was led by Global Partner Anthony Huerta. This team was hungry to learn, eager to serve, and mature to be vulnerable and face hard things.
A few days before our team arrived, the YWAM Arusha base faced an incredible tragedy, resulting in the death of 11 YWAM leaders, including the Arusha base director. We entered the trip with hearts prepared to console, comfort, and serve wherever needed.
The timing of the trip was definitely God-ordained, as we were able to serve in ways we never would’ve imagined and release the YWAM staff to process, grieve, and transition to a new season of leadership.
We spent the first few days at the YWAM Arusha base, serving in whatever ministry roles were needed. We taught English, cleaned and landscaped, played with many children, and served in local churches.
On Tuesday, we left for Engikaret, a YWAM Satellite location in the bush. Our team went from hut to hut, ministering to widows and gifting food, serving in the schools, and building a house for a widow.
Worship Center was able to donate the money for the house built for the widow, which was a life-changing donation for this family.
Sewing Hope also generously donated clothing, which was a blessing to so many people with very little.
When doing hut-to-hut evangelism, our team encountered an older gentleman eagerly awaiting our arrival. When our team approached him, he felt the presence of the Lord strongly.
Many had visited him before, planting Gospel seeds, and after processing them for a while, his heart was ripe for the Lord. Our team was able to pray with him as he accepted the Lord, forever changed! What a beautiful experience.
On Wednesday, we returned to Arusha and served more around the YWAM base. We partnered with New Vision Soccer Ministry, played soccer with local kids, and did other practical ministry tasks.
We then wrapped up our final day on Friday with a safari, witnessing God’s beautiful creation!
It was incredible to see the impact our team made on the people of Tanzania, but even more incredible to see the way the Lord worked in each individual’s heart from the team.
Leaving the trip, we had two people commit to baptism, one person commit to a Discipleship Training School, one person declare freedom from addiction, one person experience deliverance from oppression, and five people share their testimony.
Worldviews were radically changed, and their perspective shifted from selfish to selfless. What a beautiful honor it was to watch the Lord encounter each person.
We are deeply grateful for your prayers as we served alongside YWAM Arusha amidst tragedy. We could sense great support and the presence of the Lord as we served.
