Why Serve in Kids Ministry?

Sheena Scheffel   -

I am endlessly inspired by an individual’s power to shape a child’s spiritual journey. The variety of voices who contribute to sharing God’s love and wisdom constructs a deep foundation for our kids. This diverse tapestry of volunteers plays a pivotal role in shaping and nurturing the budding faith of our kids.

The core belief is simple: the more voices a child hears speaking about God, the stronger their faith foundation becomes.

The foundation of faith is like a multifaceted prism, with each volunteer adding a distinct layer of understanding, compassion, and connection with Jesus. These layers aren’t static; they evolve, deepen, and strengthen over time, reinforcing the spiritual groundwork for the future.

In the world of Kids Ministry, the need for volunteers who are passionate about sharing their faith is paramount. These individuals become storytellers, role models, and mentors, demonstrating their genuine love for Jesus. Each volunteer brings a unique perspective, style, and life experience, enriching the understanding of God in children’s hearts.

Understanding the layers of the foundation is crucial. Just as a house’s foundation is the last to disappear during demolition, a well-built spiritual foundation endures. It remains steadfast, capable of withstanding the challenges that life may present. This is why our responsibility as volunteers in Kids Ministry is vital. Each story shared, lesson taught, and kind act demonstrated contributes to the unshakable foundation we’re building in these young hearts.

Being part of Kids Ministry isn’t just about sharing biblical stories or leading activities; it’s about being a living testimony to the transformative power of a relationship with Jesus. Our own lives, shaped and molded by God, serve as a living example for the next generation. They witness how our faith has influenced our decisions, actions, and perspectives. Our authenticity in sharing our journey of faith becomes a compass for them to navigate their own path to Jesus.

I encourage all volunteers to see themselves as instruments of God. Allow your faith, experiences, and encounters with him to influence the young minds in our care. Your willingness to invest in these children is planting seeds that will grow and flourish into a solid, unyielding foundation of faith.

Serving in Kids Ministry is an invaluable opportunity to mold the future of our faith communities. Each volunteer, with their unique story, contributes to the diverse landscape that fortifies the spiritual groundwork of these children. How can you embrace this calling to allow your own faith to inspire the next generation of believers?
