Worship Center Announces Retirement of Long-Time Leaders Don and Doris Neff

Matt Mylin   -

After more than 40 years of faithful service, Worship Center announces the retirement of two of its most dedicated leaders, Don and Doris Neff. They will be transitioning into a new season of life at the end of 2024, marking the close of a remarkable chapter in their lives and the life of the church.

Don Neff has served as Small Groups and Associate Pastor for more than 20 years and then Executive Pastor for about 20 years, working closely with founding pastor Sam Smucker and current lead pastor Matt Mylin.

His leadership and wisdom have been instrumental in shaping the direction of our church and ensuring the effectiveness of our ministries.

Whether teaching, preaching, or walking with people through various stages of life, Don’s patience, faithfulness, and love for people have been evident in everything he has done. His impact on Worship Center’s leadership team has been profound, and his Christ-like character has left a lasting legacy.

Doris Neff has also made a lasting mark on the church community.

As Care Pastor, Doris has walked alongside countless individuals, providing comfort, guidance, and support through life’s many challenges.

Her years of service in the ladies’ ministry have left a deep and positive impact on the women of the congregation, many of whom have been strengthened by her leadership, encouragement, and compassion.

Together, Don and Doris have exemplified the essence of faithful service. They have led small groups, counseled young couples, officiated weddings and funerals, invested in leaders, and, incredibly, have likely attended more than 5,000 Sunday services!

While they look forward to stepping into a new chapter with a little more margin in their schedules, they plan to remain involved at Worship Center, serving in some capacity.

Don’s primary responsibilities are being transitioned to Colin Davis, our new Executive Pastor of Operations, and Dustin Leed, our new Executive Pastor of Ministries. Heather Bivins, Director of HR and membership,  has already taken on the responsibilities that Don oversaw in the HR department. Our Pastoral Team will handle Doris’s primary responsibilities.

Worship Center is deeply grateful for all that Don and Doris have given to this congregation.

To express our gratitude for all they have poured into this church, we will honor Don and Doris in one of our Sunday services in December. Worship Center is a better church today because of their commitment to faithfully serve this congregation all these years.
