Ordination of Pastors

Matt Mylin   -

Ordination is a significant moment of public affirmation and prayer, recognizing the call of a ministry on a pastor’s life. It acknowledges that the individual has been observed over time and proven to be faithful to God, to their calling, and to serving people in alignment with Ephesians 4:11-12, where Christ gifts some to be pastors and teachers to serve the church.

As part of our service on Sunday, October 20, four of our pastors – Sheena Scheffel, Colin Davis, Daniel Seiz, and Dustin Leed – will be ordained following the biblical model of laying on of hands.

As seen in 2 Timothy 1:5-7, Paul reminds Timothy of the gift of God within him, given through the laying on of hands, calling him to serve with a spirit of power, love, and self-discipline. Additionally, 2 Timothy 1:13-14 speaks to the responsibility of guarding the good deposit of faith entrusted to them, as they carry forward the message and mission of Jesus in their ministry.

This moment of ordination is a special recognition of the pastors’ role in fulfilling God’s purpose for their lives and in the life of our church.
