A Weekend of Impact with NYSUM: Feeding the Hungry and Sharing Hope
A few weeks ago, our Outreach Team from Worship Center had the incredible privilege of partnering with NYSUM (New York School of Urban Ministry) for a weekend of service and ministry in New York City. The mission? To share the love of Jesus by feeding the homeless, serving the community, and providing Thanksgiving dinners to those in need.
From the moment we arrived, there was a sense of purpose and unity as our team stepped out of our comfort zones to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Riding the subways of New York City, we encountered people from all walks of life. Armed with food, toiletries, blankets, clothing, a warm smile, and compassionate hearts, we had the opportunity not just to meet physical needs but to share the hope and love of Christ in personal and meaningful ways.
One of the most powerful moments of the weekend was witnessing lives transformed. We saw individuals open their hearts to the Lord right there in the middle of the city’s hustle and bustle. It was a profound reminder that the Gospel knows no boundaries; it reaches into the streets, the subways, and the hearts of the hurting and broken.
The highlight of our outreach was serving a Thanksgiving dinner to a housing community. Together with NYSUM, we created a space of joy, warmth, and fellowship. For many who came, it wasn’t just a meal; it was an encounter with God’s love.
This outreach was not only a blessing to those we served, but it was also a powerful experience for our team. Seeing the church mobilized to help others, showing compassion in tangible ways, and being a light in a dark place was a humbling and joyful experience.
We are so grateful for our partnership with NYSUM and for the opportunity to make an impact in New York City. This weekend was a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do to share Christ’s love and to see lives changed.
Thank you to Sewing Hope for providing winter hats and scarves, and to everyone who supported this outreach with prayers, donations, and encouragement. Together, we are making a difference, one life at a time!
Let’s keep this momentum going as we continue to serve locally and globally.
