Visiting Global Partners in Cambodia and Singapore

“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” – Matthew 9:37-38

Betsy and I recently returned from a journey through Cambodia and Singapore, where we had the privilege of walking alongside our global partners and seeing firsthand how God is at work. These verses in Matthew echoed in our hearts throughout the trip, reminding us that the harvest is indeed ripe, but God continues to call for more laborers to join in the work of spreading the gospel to all nations.

In Cambodia, we spent time with Michaela and Josiah Slabach, who are serving the community in Pailin by educating and empowering youth and fostering leadership through soccer outreach, English classes, and community engagement.

At their café, run by Michaela, locals come to gather and connect, bridging cultural gaps and opening doors for the gospel. Seeing Michaela and Josiah’s commitment was a reminder of the dedication needed to bring in the harvest.

We felt God’s presence and protection in Cambodia. The warmth and openness of the people touched us deeply.

Even in the midst of challenges, the Slabach’s are answering God’s call with unwavering faith and obedience, embodying a vision of raising up young Cambodian leaders who can bring Christ’s message of hope and salvation to their own communities. Their vision resonates with the call in Matthew 9 to be faithful workers, saying “yes” to God and building His kingdom wherever they are planted.

After our time in Cambodia, we traveled to Singapore where we spent time with Jeff and Cindy Weber at Rhema Bible Training Center. Jeff and Cindy are dedicated to training, empowering, and equipping Christian leaders across Asia by offering day and night Bible classes that draw students from diverse backgrounds.

Seeing their passion for teaching and their heart for the region reminded us of the endless possibilities for spreading God’s word. In our time with the Weber’s, we had the joy of encouraging students and meeting one-on-one with Jeff and Cindy, sharing in their vision for a region hungry for the gospel.

As we left Asia, Matthew 9:37-38 stayed with us, reminding us that God’s harvest truly is beautiful and abundant, but He continues to ask His people to step forward and join Him in reaching the world. This journey not only opened our eyes to the work being done but also deepened our conviction that each of us has a part to play in spreading the gospel. The harvest is ready; now we pray for laborers to answer the call, willing to bring the light of Christ into every corner of the world.
