Give it a Chance: Join a Group to Grow with Jesus and Others
Years ago, I decided to grow a “5 o’clock shadow.” I had some vacation time and thought it was a good idea to start growing this facial hair. Whenever it started to look like a beard, I shaved it down to the nubs.
My father-in-law kept observing what I was doing and one day took me aside and said, “You know ya’ gotta’ give it a chance.” He wanted to see some beard growth, not nubs of facial hair! So, whenever my wife and I feel we have not yet given something a chance to grow, we will look at each other and say, “Give it a chance,” and then laugh at the memory!
Would you consider taking a chance on something? I would like you to take a chance to grow your interior relationship with Jesus and others.
Specifically, I would like to challenge you to take one of the courses we offer at Worship Center on Monday nights. It may answer one of the following questions you may have:
Does Worship Center have a course that would strengthen my relationship with my spouse? Yes, we do! It’s called RE|Engage.
What about me? I’m not married, but I’m seriously dating someone. Do you have something that would be helpful to the person I am dating and myself as we grow in a relationship? Yes, we do! It’s called Dating on Purpose.
Does Worship Center offer a course to help me understand my faith a bit more? Yes, we do! It’s called Faith Practices.
I’m grieving the loss of a loved one. Can Worship Center help me with that? Yes. GriefShare is a national Christian group that will help you navigate your loss with others.
My finances are suffering. Can Worship Center help me with that, too? Yes, we can. Financial Peace University is led by seasoned financial coaches who can help you navigate the financial waters you find yourself in.
Are you a woman struggling with who you are as a follower of Jesus? Have you suffered abuse, causing you to have a poor understanding of who God says you are? We have a group for those struggling with these questions called Free to be Me – Who I am in Christ.
Our society has become so sexualized. Does the Bible address what biblical sexuality looks like? Yes, it does. Join other men and build a biblical perspective toward sexuality.
I see you have something for men. Is there anything for women? Yes. There is also a popular Bible study for women each Monday night.
Do you know someone who is in prison? There is a support group for those with loved ones in jail called Holding on to Hope.
I have had an addiction to alcohol and drugs, or I have known someone close to me who has an addiction. Does Worship Center have a group that understands this issue? Yes. Our group, Step to Freedom meets every Monday night year-round.
I’m suffering through a separation from my spouse. Does Worship Center have a group for me? Yes. It is a national Christian group curriculum giving support to those going through separation or divorce. This course is called Divorce Care.
So, take a chance and grow your relationship with God and others this winter. You won’t regret it.
