Route 56 February Retreat Recap
Last weekend (Feb. 7-9), between sports practices, family times, video games, and school work, a group of 5th and 6th-grade students attended the Route 56 retreat. We had lots of fun together as a group as we stayed overnight at camp! We told stories, laughed, played games, worshipped together, and lots more. Students and their leaders connected over small group time, meals, and free-time activities.
When it comes to how we think about the world, our feelings, the opinions of others, sin, and redemption, so many ideas are presented to us. It can be easy to drift from what is true, like looking into carnival mirrors that distort reality. During our large group sessions, we studied the book of Romans and discussed how we can rely on the truth of the Bible. We can always trust what God says through his word! Students spent time alone with God throughout the weekend reflecting on scripture.
No matter how old we are, our world can sometimes feel lonely. Before the retreat, one of our prayers was for new friendships to form between students. We got to see God’s answer to that prayer! Students were introduced to each other, learned names, hung out together, and found things they had in common. Some of them had never met before! Many new friendships began on the retreat, and we pray that they will continue positively impacting students’ time together on Sunday mornings at Route 56.
We are excited for next Sunday and beyond at Route 56 as we continue growing together! If you know a 5th or 6th grader, invite them to Route 56 — we want them to join us on Sundays during the 9 and 11am services!
