The Heart of Groups at Worship Center
As we reflect on the past year and look ahead to this Group season, I am filled with awe at the ways God has worked through our Groups here at Worship Center.
For me, Groups have always been more than just a place to meet—they’ve been a place of transformation. Through these communities, I’ve grown deeper in my relationship with Jesus and experienced the power of walking alongside others in faith.
At Worship Center, our Groups are about gathering and fulfilling a larger calling in God’s Kingdom. The mission is to lead people to be growing followers of Jesus who love God and love people. This mission mirrors Jesus’ life with His disciples: forming deep relationships with them, sharing in fellowship, learning together, and serving one another.
In Acts 2:42, we see the early church living out these principles, devoting themselves to learning, fellowship, breaking bread together, and prayer. It says:
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” (Acts 2:42, NIV)
Our Groups continue this legacy, creating spaces for discipleship, mutual care, and spiritual growth. These Groups are not just places to study—they are places to grow as disciples of Jesus and to walk alongside one another in the challenges and joys of life.
This past year, we’ve seen God move powerfully in our Groups. Over 1,000 people participated in 114 groups—nearly a third of our church family actively engaged in learning, community, and support. These Groups aren’t just about numbers; they are places where lives are being changed, people grow in their faith, and God’s Kingdom is being built.
Despite challenges like health struggles and personal loss, our Groups have shown what it means to be the body of Christ—bearing each other’s burdens and celebrating God’s faithfulness through love, prayer, and care.
From serving together during Serve Week to encouraging missionaries, our groups have been a testimony to the love and mission of Christ.
One powerful example is Brenda Martin’s story. After a life-threatening accident, Brenda was surrounded by her Group, receiving prayer, meals, and constant support, showing what it means to live in true community.
As we enter this new season, I am excited for what God will continue to do through our Groups. This is not about the numbers—it’s about lives being transformed through the power of community and discipleship. Whether gathering in homes, online, or here at the church, each Group is a place for growing deeper in our walk with Jesus and growing together as His body.
I encourage you to prayerfully consider how God may be calling you to step into a deeper relationship with Him and with others this season. It’s not just about “joining a group,” but about stepping into a place where you can grow, be discipled, and disciple others.
Whether you are new to the idea of Groups, are already part of one, or feel called to lead, we invite you to engage in the Kingdom work that happens when we come together in community.
Let’s pray for God’s guidance as we enter this new season, believing that many more lives will be impacted as we continue to walk this journey together in Christ.
Group sign-ups will happen on two Sundays — January 19 and 26. Please visit worshipcenter.org/groups to learn more.
