Assisting Individuals in Crisis Training

April 4 - 5, 8:00 am - 5:30 pm  |  Student Ministry Auditorium

2384 New Holland Pike, Lancaster, PA, USA

Join us this Spring as Worship Center hosts Christ in Action for an AIC seminar!

Assisting Individuals in Crisis (AIC) is the first of the three consecutive FBFR courses. Crisis intervention is not psychotherapy, rather it is a specialized acute emergency mental health intervention which requires specialized training.  As physical first-aid is to surgery, crisis intervention is to psychotherapy.  Thus crisis intervention is often called “emotional first-aid”. This interactive program is designed to teach participants the fundamentals of crisis intervention along with proper protocols for assisting individuals in the throes of crisis situations.

The following topics will be covered during the two days seminar:

  • Attentive listening
  • Crisis communication techniques
  • Psychological reactions in crisis
  • Mechanisms of action in crisis intervention
  • Avoiding harmful practices
  • The SAFER-R model of individual crisis intervention
  • Commonly used crisis and disaster mental health interventions
  • Self-care issues

This training is not only for first responders, it’s very beneficial in our calling to be Christ to our community. Whether it is a neighbor or loved one going through a tragedy or divorce or loss, a local community disaster, or when you go on missions and encounter those who are hurting, this is a great foundation for effective ways to love and support those in need.

Training time is Friday 8am – 5:30pm, Saturday 8:30am – 5:30pm. Must attend both days to receive certificate.
