Godly Wisdom – Pt 4

Matthew 6:24 (NLT)

24 “No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money.

Money is a helpful tool but a terrible master.

Matthew 6:22-24 (NLT)

22 “Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light. 23 But when your eye is unhealthy, your whole body is filled with darkness. And if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how deep that darkness is!

24 “No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money.

Proverbs 10:22 (NLT)

The blessing of the Lord makes a person rich,
and he adds no sorrow with it.

Proverbs 10:4-5 (NLT)

4 Lazy people are soon poor;
hard workers get rich.

5 A wise youth harvests in the summer,
but one who sleeps during harvest is a disgrace.

THE “10, 10, 80 FRAMEWORK” TO MANAGE MONEY WITH GODLY WISDOM:

1. 10 – Give.

A generous eye sees clearly.

Proverbs 22:9 (NKJV)

He who has a generous eye will be blessed,
For he gives of his bread to the poor.

Proverbs 11:24-25 (NLT)

24 Give freely and become more wealthy;
be stingy and lose everything.

25 The generous will prosper;
those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.

2. 10 – Save.

Building wealth is slow. Short-sightedness suffers consequences.

Proverbs 27:12 (NLT)

12 A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions.
    The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.

3. 80 – Live.

Self-control is always rewarding.

Philippians 4:19 (NLT)

19 And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.

▶ Read Proverbs 10:22. What kind of sorrow could come with having money?

▶ Read Proverbs 22:9. Share some options you know of that are a good investment in caring for others.

Activate:

Spend a moment in silence to consider your response, then share your decision with the Group.

Proverbs 11:24-25. Is there one new way God is prompting you to master your money?

Prayer:

Thank God for the highs and lift up the lows.

Read Philippians 4:19 NLT. Pray for those who may be in need. And pray that Worship Center continues to be a wise steward of what we have been entrusted with, and to know how to invest locally and globally.
