Spiritual Practices – Wk 4

The God of everything wants to interact with us personally through His Word, the Bible.

Hebrews 4:12 (NCV)

12 God’s word is alive and working and is sharper than a double-edged sword. It cuts all the way into us, where the soul and the spirit are joined, to the center of our joints and bones. And it judges the thoughts and feelings in our hearts.

Psalm 119:105 (NCV)

105 Your word is like a lamp for my feet
and a light for my path.

2 Timothy 3:1 (NCV)

16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for showing people what is wrong in their lives, for correcting faults, and for teaching how to live right.

Big Idea: The God of everything wants to interact with us personally through His word, the Bible.

Consider:

Choose one or two questions for your Group to discuss as time allows.

▶ Read Hebrews 4:12, Psalm 119:105, and 2 Timothy 3:16. Which description of the Bible means something to you at this time in your life?

▶ Read Matthew 13:52. What is an old treasure from God’s word that has been valuable to you? What is a new treasure you are seeing from God’s word lately?

▶ Read Matthew 22:4-5. What keeps people away from the feast in our culture today?

Activate:

Spend a moment in silence to consider your response, then share your decision with the Group.

Read 2 Corinthians 8:11. What is your next step in following Jesus through studying His word?

Prayer:

Thank God for the highs and lift up the lows.

Read Proverbs 8:35. Pray together that as a church we will be growing followers of Jesus who love God and love people.
